2007 Recap
For the first time in over 20 years, Douglas Boys tennis sent qualifiers to the State Tournament. Robert Shawhan and Keagan Chipp represented the north and lost to the eventual state champion in a very close match. Congratulations Robert and Keagan.
The team qualified for the 4th year in a row for regionals, where we were mowed down by regional champ Galena for the second year in a row.
Recent news: 10/13/07 Robert and Keagan advance to State in doubles. Its been a long time since we had any representation in the state tournament, congratulations to Robert and Keagan.
10/2/07 Zone At Galena, we got smoked 15-3. Tough to find any bright spots - but here it is Bill Sunderland got his first win of the season 7-5! Robert and Andrew got the other two victories. Galena played well and we say congratulations and good luck the rest of the season. We will be sending 2 doubles teams and 2 singles players to zone.
9/27/07 South Tahoe 11 Douglas 7 This match was a nail bitter to the end. Great effort from Robert and Andrew in doubles - they swept all 3 of their matches. Keegan won 3 of three, but held his own against the best player in Northern Nevada. Spike and John squeaked out a 8-6 win in a tiebreaker -. Marshall and Tim stepped up and and beat their #3 6-4.
9/25/07 Reno 12 Douglas 6 Tigers had some bright spot. The doubles team of Robert and Keagan swept all three matches. John and Spikes won their 10 th in row then lost for the first time in 2 weeks. They bounced back to take 7-5 victory to end 2-1 on the day. Marshall got a victory in singles. Andrew had a tough 6-4 loss, but played very well.
9/20/07 Douglas 16 North Valleys 2 8 in a row for John and Spike! 16 in a row for Keagan! 9/18/07 Douglas 15 North Tahoe 3 Highlights include a perfect 6-0,6-0,6-0 from Robert. Keagan was close on his heels with a 6-1,6-0,6-0 outing. Marshall and Tim won all 3 as did John and Spike. Alex and Aaron won one of their 2. 9/13/07
Douglas 15 Hug 3 Highlights include Alex and Aarons first win as a doubles team - congratulations! We had sweeps by Keagen, Robert, Andrew and a perfect 6-0,6-0,6-0 Golden sweep by John and Spike. Marshall and Tim were 2-1 on the day.

9/6/07 Douglas 13 Damonte Ranch 5 All 3 singles players swept. Keagan had a perfect day - defeating all by 6-0, including a golden set (winning every point). Robert gave up only 1 game on the day, and Andrew was close behind with a 6-2,6-0 and 6-2 showing. In doubles, John and Spike were 2-1 as were Marshall and Tim. Great match Tigers! 9/4/07 Carson 12 Douglas 6 (but it was sooo much closer) Road warriors come up short against Carson. The match was close thru all 3 rounds, Keagan and Robert were able to sweep their singles matches. Spike had 2 very close matches 4-6 and a tough 6-7 tiebreaker. John and Andrew had two close 6-4 matches. Tim and Marshall were in their first match and made a nice run to finish at 3-6. A couple of points here and there and we could have prevailed. More...
